Our Story
Long before we dreamed of a church planting in Garland, God was at work behind the scenes! Many people from our initial launch team have been rooted in the Garland area for many years raising families and serving in civic government, education, local businesses, youth sports, and community outreach.
The initial seeds for this church were planted by God in 2018 when he called a group of men living in Garland to gather every Friday morning at 5:30am to pray for the welfare of the city and contend for revival and renewal. This prayer gathering has continued weekly since that time with the same heart cry. Additionally, a family house church gathered weekly under the covering of Antioch Dallas Community Church and another was soon added in 2018. Through the following years (and craziness of Covid) these house churches multiplied to now 5 house churches that continue to meet weekly.
In 2019 through much prayer and fasting, the overseers and pastors of Antioch Dallas began to sense God stirring a new work in the Garland area and began to discuss the planting of a new church in the area. In the Fall of 2020, Jeremy West (our pastor) had an open vision encounter with God where the Holy Spirit said to “Plant a church in Garland. Call the young people. Raise up fathers and mothers.” Upon sharing this experience with the overseers of Antioch Dallas, being completely unified, they blessed him to began taking active steps toward launching the new church plant.
In the Fall of 2021, 19 families were sent out together by Antioch Dallas Community Church to plant Antioch Lake Cities Church on mission to see Garland and surrounding cities transformed by the love and power of Jesus Christ.
From the beginning our aim has been to be an Acts 2 community empowered by the Holy Spirit, built upon and aligned to the gospel message and relational values of Jesus Christ. We have a specific mandate from God to call young people to Jesus and to raise up fathers and mothers in the faith which will continue to inform our multi-generational ministry approach. We are excited to be a part of an extended family, the Antioch Movement of Churches, where we have many opportunities to partner in global mission in addition to a wealth of spiritual resources to support our local church in the call of God.
God continues to author a wonderful story of lives being healed, transformed and discipled into the fullness of maturity in Christ and we’d love for you to join.
